Our view
“Free, no booking, and each activity only needs 10–15 minutes of attention — about right for a preschooler on a Friday afternoon.”
About this outing
Free drop-in Friday afternoons in the Grand Gallery at the National Museum of Scotland, with a different theme each week. The Learning team brings out objects to handle, short demonstrations and quick crafts. On the last Friday of the month the Games Hub on Level 4 of the Learning Centre also opens, with historical and modern games.
Term-time Fridays, 13:30–16:00. Upcoming themes: Ancient Egypt (18 Sep), Go Wild — animals (25 Sep, Games Hub open). No sessions on 16 and 23 Oct (October holiday). Each activity takes about 10–15 minutes, so it slots into a wider museum visit.
