The Librarians

Our view

This is one of the few Fringe children's shows genuinely designed for deaf and hearing families together — BSL is woven into the performance rather than bolted on. The post-show storytelling element means kids don't just watch; they leave having made something themselves. Note that the Blackwood Bar space doesn't have step-free wheelchair access, despite the wider venue being largely accessible — worth checking directly with the venue if that matters for your group.
Little Outings

About this outing

Miss Book and Mr Page are two eccentric library characters who stumble upon the adventures lurking inside their old books — performed in both BSL and spoken English. The show runs for an hour and includes a workshop element afterwards, where children get to create and share their own story on stage, using whichever combination of speaking, signing, writing, or drawing suits them. It runs on three evenings (14–16 August 2026) at Deaf Action's Blackwood Bar, with the 15 August performance also captioned.
